Who is Calvin Presbyterian Church?

We are a Bible-centered church. We are a decidedly confessional church. We are a Presbyterian church. We are an historical church. We are a pilgrim church. We are a covenantal church. We are an evangelical church. We are a Reformed church.

Jim Myers and his wife Luciana began visiting Calvin OPC in 1996, and later became members of the congregation in 1997, and began serving as a member of Calvin’s Board of Deacons a year or two later. He is currently serving as the Secretary of the board of deacons, and his experience also includes serving as a former Chairman of the Board for several years consecutively.

Jim began his Christian walk as a youth in a northern Indiana “Free Will” Baptist church, and initially resisted reformed theology. But his resistance to reformed doctrine, and its true expression of God’s Holy Word, eventually melted away. It was not an easy process, but the power of the Holy Spirit working through the earnest prayers of his wife, and a reasoned searching of the Scriptures convinced him of the truth contained in the “Doctrines of Grace”.

Jim is a military veteran and was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps after 10 years of active service both in the US and abroad. Jim met and married his lovely wife Luciana while stationed at the U.S. Consulate in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Jim and “Lucy” have been blessed with two children, a son (Michael) and a daughter (Gabriela). He has been employed by APS for the past decade, and works at the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station west of Phoenix.

"Come unto Me all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your soul, for My yoke is easy and My burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30
