ABOUT US
OUR HISTORY
Calvin was founded in 1982 as a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in American (PCA) and joined the Southern California Presbytery of the OPC in 1994. Wayne Buchtel served as pastor from 1986 to 2005 and Michael Babcock was installed as pastor in 2007. In 2013 we built a new, larger building, and we were able to make the final mortgage payment in June 2018.
OUR FAITH
The OPC holds to the historic Reformed faith. We believe that what the Bible teaches is accurately summed up in our Confession of Faith and Catechisms, which are editions of the historic Westminster Confession of Faith and Shorter & Larger Catechisms. However, you do not need to hold to these standards to attend our services and fellowship with us.
OUR WORSHIP
At Calvin we understand worship to be a covenantal dialogue between God and His people. God speaks, the people respond. We are not performing for God; He is meeting us, feeding us with His presence and word, comforting and admonishing us to fix our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.
OUR VISION
Our vision is simple: To see sinners reconciled to God the Father through Jesus Christ the Son, and to establish them in faith through the power of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, each Sunday we meet to worship God in a manner acceptable to Him, to be strengthened in faith by hearing Christ proclaimed from the Scriptures, and to be sent into the world to bear witness through lives that have been transformed by the gospel.
And you were dead in your trespasses and sins… following the course of this world.

But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ —by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus
